This patch allows you to compile Jedi Outcast maps with the stable 1.2.1 version of GtkRadiant (it does not work with the 1.2.6 development builds). Raven's Outcast tools must also be installed before using the patch but you can remove them afterwards.We're mirroring a copy of his patch here (265kb), but you can also download it from UGG's GtkOutcast site: http://ugg.codealliance.ca/gtkoutcast/
It's important to note that is not an official GtkRadiant release, and I am not a member of the development team. Don't complain to them if you have trouble using my patch.

I was sick of people pushing each other to death, so falling into the pit takes off some damage (to prevent people jumping off the side repeatedly to regenerate Force power) and teleports you back unto the fighting platform.

While you're reading about tutorials, you'll be interested to know we've already got a couple of tutorials to offer for Jedi Outcast editing. DeTRiTiC-iQ's submitted a nifty how-to on scaling NPCs, and we've also got an HTML'ized copy of Michael Gummelt's custom skinning guide. Be sure to check 'em out, and if you've got a tutorial you'd like to submit for us to post, by all means, send it to us at tutorials@massassi.net.
Update: both I and some chatters had problems with this program, and I did a little searching and found this. The program said it couldn't find GLUT32.DLL, and on the website is a link to a file with GLUT32.DLL in it. Install the stuff in the zip file you get into the same place that you installed the original program in. If it doesn't work with this, I would just give up. The program is experimental anyhow, so its bound not to work on some computers.

Description: This skin is of an older Kyle, older than Obi-Wan during Episode IV; the Force is the only thing that has preserved his body. He is still as powerful with the Force as he was in his Knight years, however. This skin replaces the Kyle skin in single and multiplayer games. His hair and beard have been turned to grey, his face is also aged, and he is wearing mainly tan clothing mixed with textures and colors.

Description: This patch changes several different aspects of the game. The sideways "barrel roll" is changed to an aerial cartwheel and the backflip is changed to a back handspring. All of the saber moves are sped up so that attacks are faster and deadlier. This gives the fast and normal stances a fighting chance (makes for awesome whirlwind-type spinning attacks) while also improving heavy to make it more efficient. Two new skins are added: Dante from Devil May Cry and a Shadow skin. The sabers are also changed into firey sabers with silver and gold handles. The purple saber is changed into a katana (since no one wants purple =) ) The appearance of the Bryar Pistol and Flechette weapon is vastly improved. (Bryar is now silver and black with neon green shots, Flechette is kinda coppery). The patch also lets you use duel levels such as BGJ and The Pit in FFA games.

Update 3 May/7 (Hideki) : On this very topic, we have recieved a mail from Raven Software that the page for the patch is now available at Lucasarts website.
The list of changes can be found here posted by a Raven developer, but the lucasforums system seems to kick non-logged-in users when the server is busy, so I guess take a look at the page on lec site mentioned above for instant access.
It includes 4 new multiplayer maps as well, so it's a hot update to get, and since it doesn't have backward compatibility for multiplayer, you should get it.
The updated server software will be posted soon.
Recently GameSpot has turned into a paying site and reviews will not be freely available after a week from the day it comes out, so go quick!

Warning to those who who've downloaded Jester's fine Star Destroyer Hanger level. If you have it placed ready for play and have installed the patch, the new Duel_Hanger Level in the patch will show up as Jester's level and not as Ravens/LucasArts newly designed one. I stumbled across this when I went to look at the new levels. Think a basic solution to the problem will be to rename Jester's level. However I got some email from Jester saying his updated level can be found on his own site: http://www.planetquake.com/jesterspaz/So, if this applies to you, make sure you check it out.

The demo features a NEW level not in the retail version and you also get to use the saber and limited forces. The level is the one from the early screenshots released by LEC from last year and LEC has also released 6 new screenshots taken from the demo.
If you don't own the game yet, you can download the fully functional demo(thanks to JKII.net for the links) weighing at 66MB or if you already have a copy of Jedi Outcast, you can download the map pack(courtesy of JKII.net) for the demo weighing only at 6MB. A mirror for this file can be found here. Be noted that this file only works if you have patched your retail Jedi Outcast to 1.03.
On the very related topic, Ugg's site has released the walkthrough for this demo. Check it out here, if you get stuck.

Description: A little creation of mine, the Imperial Enforcer is used by the Empire for crowd control and other similar duties. The soldier wears the same basic Stormtrooper armor design, but instead of white, their armor is brown. Version 2 changes the coloring of the default and CTF versions of the skin and adds the ability for bots to use the skin as well.

Description: A simple level that consists of one street with buildings on either side, one large "base" on each side which house flags. Bot support is included, but it is iffy, at best. (The bots are fairly stupid.) Jumppads and Team-only doors help the CTY players out there. I'd suggest Force Jump level 3 to help get around. Enjoy! Description: This map is meant to resemble a temple, an aztec temple actually, as for how well I managed that I don't know since I had no reference material to look at but I'm somewhat pleased with what I managed to make.
As you will notice, this map is a bit lager than a usual dueling map. This offers you different ways to do battle. Not only by giving you a number of different spots to battle but also in the way you are going to act. Will you run away and hide until you can heal or will you stay and get burnt by that nasty looking lightsaber?
As for the flow of the battle I don't think it'll be a problem, although the map is bigger than usual there aren't that many places to hide, and even if you manage to hide, your opponent can see most of the map from the top of the temple.
It's Saber and Force only, it's a dueling map after all.

Description: It is a medium-sized duel map, no weapon spawns as I didn't find that it lent itself to the map. The arena is over 2 floors, the lower having most of the powerups..but being the more treacherous of the two. I haven't included bot support in this map, they work great 50% of the time when I do the botroutes but when they respawn they turn into kangeroos.

Description: This is my first attempt at a decent level, so please treat it as such :). Any suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated. I admire many of you skilled level makers out there and it would be great to get some feedback. This is basically a medium-sized arena with a building in the center. It is possible to access the bottom, second, and roof parts of the building. There are no bot paths or gun placements in this level. I believe you will find it quite a nice setting for saber fighting. I have found that it is best for 2 to 8 players. It is heavily lighted by colored lighting and takes place outside at night time. Thanks for taking the time to access this!

Description: Multiplayer duel map with music and bot support.I decided to make a map with strong focus on architecture, yet with more varied fighting grounds than my last map. All areas are accessible with no force. You can jump around among the rocks outside the temple, but a faulty step will quickly lead to your death. This age-old Jedi temple is located in mighty mountains of Kejim. It is a relic of the Old Republic, a time of war between the Jedi and the Sith, the epic struggle of good and evil. This holy temple was both used as a place of tranquillity, and a place where Padawans were made Jedis. These sacred training grounds has now been rediscovered by the new Republic, and has once again been made a sparring ground for the peacekeepers of the Republic.

Friday, May 17th, 2002 - A few things for the weekend:
1. Our master server for Jedi Outcast will be out tomorrow (Saturday) morning from 9am CST to approximately 1pm, depending on how our network maintenance goes. Just so you know. Originally it was slated for last week Saturday, but had to be delayed.
2. For those of you unhappy with the increased saber blocking in CTF and FFA modes in the 1.03 patch for Jedi Outcast, you can turn off the changes by setting the CVAR g_saberTraceSaberFirst to "0" in your server configs. Setting this to "1" = More Blocking, "0" = Less Blocking. It defaults to "1" in 1.03.

- If your level was removed, do not e-mail a level poster about it. Instead, send your question either to a specific Massassi administrator (not level poster) or to the staff at staff@massassi.net. Removing a level is a decision made by the admins, not the level posters.

But now there are over 220 MB of files waiting to be posted. I've already hired another file poster tonight--although he won't be able to post any until tomorrow--and I'm trying to find more. I hope you all can appreciate that I can't hire just anyone. With the position comes a lot of power, and I have to be able to trust the people I hire, which means I need to know them at least a little.
To top it all off, the job is not a fun one. Lots of files are submitted incorrectly, which means the submitter has basically wasted your time. It's a time-consuming and largely thankless job. Maybe I shouldn't make it sound too bad, but what I don't want are people who want a little fame taking the job, then deciding it takes too much time, and just not doing it anymore. That ends up wasting my time going through the process of hiring them, only to have to find another replacement. And remember of course, it's a volunteer job; all of Massassi is run by volunteers. The only people who make any money off Massassi are our host, and I don't even know if they are making any or not.
So, if you've read all that and still want to help, e-mail staff@massassi.net with "File Posting Application" in the subject. I cannot guarantee I will hire you, because as I said, I can't hire just anyone. I will try to respond to all the applications, but don't expect a quick reply, because I'm backlogged enough already. Thanks for your patience.

Description: V1.1 adds 2 new bots and fixes one very minor bug: Dark_Mega_ZZTer had a orange saber. It was SUPPOSED to be red. Well, I like Jedi Master mode, so I didn't get to see other sabers much ;). _Link007 is a bot representation of my brother. I asked him what he would have it say and I put it in there. PerfectSniper always aims perfectly, so if you aren't moving he will always hit you. His favorite weapon is the Disruptor Rifle, although I don't think bots use the secondary fire :(. I added a list similar to the one in JO's readme.txt to showcase the bot stats. I am very pleased that v1.0 was received so well... I will go on to make a weapon/force tweak next (details buried in readme). Have fun!

Description: The first real fighting game, brought to your PC in JO! This level is based on the bridge level in Mortal Kombat I. It is not an exact replica of the level, for the original was just a bridge and nothing else. Added walls and stuff to make it look cooler. The drop off the bridge is an amazing 2.6km. Bots are discouraged because they like to jump off the bridge and I didn't feel like trying to make botpaths yet.

Description: A long forgotten temple of the Sith, positioned high in the clouds of the gas giant Yavin. This is my first attempt at a real decent level. It consists of a large temple with a complete exterior and interior. The interior is based on a test map I first made for JO. I tweaked it a little and added an exterior plus a rooftop. This map is good for FFA, Jedi Master, and team games. There are also two duel maps that consist of just the inside and just the rooftop. Bots are highly discouraged, for they are too stupid to climb back to the top of the level and always fall off ledges. This map is great for cat and mouse. There is a lot of dark areas and long stretches along the outside for sniping.

Description: The River of Blood Tournament continues, with this year's Tournament taking place in the ruins of an ancient Jedi battle ground where many Jedi's blood has been spilt. The temple was built thousands of years ago by three Sith Lords seeking to increase their skills in the power of the force by extensive training and dueling. Before they were unable to unleash their power upon the galaxy, the Jedi Council found out about it, and sent three equally powerful Jedi to stop it. The Jedi were able to defeat all three sith lords, but at the cost of two of the Jedis. A memorial was built for the slain Jedi and the three Sith Lords were buried near the temple by order of the Jedi Council. Now thousands of years later the ancient temple's flames have been lit, and life now breathes through the river once again. The tournament of River of Blood has begun once more.

The first two levels can be found on Massassi, but they are not the "updated" versions. The first BHST 1 & 2 were never intended for SBX, but in the reviews I got from the Massassi comments on my level, everyone thought it was the best SBX level. So I worked from there to update them with better texturing and overall atmoshpere. I hope everyone enjoys these three levels so I can leave JK editing with at least some pride. :)

Description: The shadows have finally found their true keep. It is set on a snowy canyon crevice, bordering a small palace, which is the entrance to an intricate labyrinth of mysteries and dangers. Beware, for the shadows guide, trap, and mislead the thoughts of travelers who trod upon this harrowed soil. Know yourself, and know your limits.
(NOTE TO PLAYERS: Haven of Shadows is an absurdly large arena in which players must hunt their adversaries down, rather than simply shoot/swing at opponents for thirty minutes. It is definitely not a level for those who are afraid of the dark.)
