Update: I just found this Q&A posted over at Stomped with Bruce Shelly, Ensemble's head game designer who'll be involved in the development of Battleground. It's rather terse, but hey, it's a start...

I am excited to announce that JKMAG or The Jedi Knight Multiplayer Add-on Group has been updated for the first time since July of 2000. We have started to update the news on a regular basis, we have created a section for a new place for gamers to play Jedi Knight and/or Mysteries of the Sith, called #JediKnight, our forum is beginning to become active once more and there are some exciting projects that we will be announcing when the time is right. JKMAG has been serving the Jedi Knight/Mysteries of the Sith community since 1998 and we are excited about doing so again. We have brought some of the best addons of all time to the community, such as The Big Fluffy Packs, The Manowar Mods, The UGP and USP Level Packs and many more. You can plan to see us bring even more great addons in the near future. Make sure you all check out JKMAG on a regular basis for now on, you won't regret it. Thanks, ReAcToR JKMAG - http://www.jediknight.net/jkmagI imagine that, basing on their former stuff, JKMAG will be coming out with some great stuff. Go check it out.

Description: Heaven's Arena is a small saber level. Designed for 2-4 people, it is compatible with Full Force, but it's not advised. This level takes place on a sky station type deathmatch arena. Word of advice: don't fall...

Description: This level mixes together Imperial architecture with the architecture from the Valley of the Jedi. It is a somewhat large level that is easily big enough to handle large groups of players, and not be crowded. There isn't much complex architecture, so framerate shouldn't suffer any drops in any areas. The level also contains one challenge: getting across a damaged catwalk to a control room. It isn't that hard with force, but without it, almost impossible. Once across, players are rewarded with powerups, and several cameras allowing them to search the level for other players.

Check out the SS3 Website for more updates, screenshots and more.
- Removed the dead corpse effect due to collision problems.
- Decreased the explosions for the RPG and M16 to balance gameplay.
- Pipebombs are limited to only 5 bombs per detonation and pipe bombs are stronger than the RPG.
- Players can retrieve thrown knifes.
- Knife has new model. You can see both hands now and features better slash animations.
- Glock pistol has new model. It resembles a standard glock 17 now.
- New Weapon: Taser Rod. This stun gun that resembles a pipe ranch can zap anything that gets within range and can also be swung with the fire 2 button. I got the idea from a similar weapon from "lame duke" (lame duke is the unsupported early beta of Duke Nukem 3D).
- Victory gesture: Players can now express themselves by making a body gesture and a victory cry (similar to Quake 3's gesture).

I am planning some other major changes to the EC pretty soon. Now that we're on a decently fast server, I can implement some of the things I've been planning, such as auto-generating thumbnails, different viewing options, and basically just a nice upgrade.

Turmoil has engulfed the JK community. The placement of banner ads on hosted web sites is in dispute.
Hoping to resolve the matter with a blockade of deadly battleships, the greedy UGO Federation™ has stopped all shipping to the small planet of Sigma 51-A.
While the forums of the Community endlessly debates this alarming chain of events, Supreme Chancellor Bickhart has secretly dispatched two SP Editors, the guardians of peace, justice and sanity in the Community, to settle the conflict...
Server: irc.massassi.netAny problems/concerns, please let me know.

Also a small upgrade to the levels section (suggested by Hideki) - you can now easily tell which page you are on when browsing.
Now that that's all settled, we can continue posting levels...

Description: It contains about 35 new realistic sabers, including Spork sabers and some Sithsabers. I mean realistic as in they could actually be a saber in the movies or something. I'm just getting sick of sabers that are like lightning bolts or pokemon balls going up and down. I just believe the game is more fun when it looks more realistic. It also includes some new saber sounds.

Description: This level is a small 4-player level set inside a temple. Most of the rooms have multiple exits and you may find yourself dying before you know your enemy was attacking you. This can also be used to your advantage, as it is easy to switch back in the corridors and lose an opponent on your tail. The level is fast and furious, and contains all weapons.

Description: A level that is set in a canyon; three buildings outside and a building that goes into a cliff. There is one secret. The level is meant for 2-4 players and I recommend using at least force level 3. It is for sabers and guns. I would like to thank Berlick for his help. He played a good role in the making of this level (he fixed everything I messed up and did stuff I didn't know how to do).

Description: This is a medium sized highly 3D level for 3 to 4 players. The main feature is a waterfall running into a whirlpool. There are plenty of cliffsides and caves making it an interesting game for sniping and gun matches. It is not that good for sabres as there is not much room to swing them!

Description: A small group of stormtrooper commandos are secretly dropped into a Reeyees ship in the lower stratosphere. The Reeyees are friends of the rebels and have stolen a new prototype of bomber. Command has given you an entire, detailed briefing on the mission. Drop in, destroy them, get out. But the commander of this ship is someone command could never have thought of, and will make this mission change your life forever...
This is the background to my upcoming trilogy of SP episodes, where you play a stromtrooper, meeting his destiny. At the start, other stormtroopers will aid you, but an unforeseen event changes all this. The first episode of the trilogy has 3 levels in it, introducing that first fateful mission.

Description: This is a wall with a hole for shooting though and a fence for seeing through. The fence will guard you while the hole below it is in just the right height for your gun. I'll warn that I don't know how to make the fence part see-through in software mode, and I doubt there is a way, so prepare for software users to find it useless. It's good for defense, especially in a CTF level, for instance.
For those of you wondering, no, this is not the thing that's "coming" from this thread, but here is more information on that. Massassi turns 3 years old on the 27th of this month. When I started the site, I had no idea it would turn out like it did. I would like to thank all of you for visiting. I will post more interesting information on the 27th, but if you're interested, check out this page, which is our archive of the very first news post on this site (scroll all the way to the bottom). As you can see, we haven't strayed too far from our original purpose (just expanded upon it).

Description: Yep, it's another Oasis MOD. Now, if you're reading the description and haven't just skipped to the next item down on seeing 'Oasis' I'll assume you're interested. It's a doubled version of Oasis with a couple of additional routes between. There are three versions of the level included: A 'faithful' Oasis version, a full-MotS version and a No-Seeker version. You can either play it with two people and go hunting, trying to outsmart your opponent, or you can pack it with as many people as possible and run around like a maniac - the choice is yours! I found the large open area up top was even rather fun for sabers.

Description: This patch modifies almost everything in the game and makes it feel and play like a whole new game. This mod lets you play the original 21 missions with all new enemies and weapons. The enemies are all transformed into terrorists complete with bullet-firing, full automatic weapons complete with realistic sounds new .KEYs and better AI. Your arsenal consists of: Double Hk USPs (replace fists; only for SP) Hk USP SD, Hk MP5A3, frag grenades, Colt M4 Carbine, Hk MP5 SD3, Hk MSG90 Sniper Rifle w/working scope, C4 plastic explosives, and the Hk 21E heavy machine gun (all complete with their own photorealistic textures).
The zip file contains two GOB files: one for the LEC single player levels and one for non-LEC single player levels and all Multiplayer levels. It also includes new counter-terrorism themed BMs and Cogs that make weapon powerups give you more ammo so you can unload on your enemies without having to worry about the limited ammo. This will give you a way to enjoy the original game once again but this time with a faster, more exciting feel. Leave a comment so I will know what you want to see in my next mod.

This is a Multiplayer Sabres level, with a recommended amount of 4 players (but can support 16 [yikes!]). It has a main platform for dueling, which is above a pit of lava; the lava will kill you instantly if you fall. There is a room beind glass for observation of the 2 people fighting, and a camera offering a birds-eye view for watching them. To get to the room, activate the console on the platform. Massassi was originally created as a site to help people learn how to edit Jedi Knight. I had been struggling very much with an early version of Jed, and good ol' Slug (formerly known as GMS_Slug) came to my rescue. After seeing numerous posts on the DarkJedi.com forums (now Code-Alliance.com) about the same things, I decided that I should write some tutorials. I built Massassi in a day or two (it had pretty much the same design we have now, if you can believe that), but it took me longer to write the first few tutorials.
Once a few tutorials were up, I asked for hosting at JediKnight.net, but was turned down. Then I asked Spart @ Jedi Nights, who quickly responded with a "yes" and set up our account. We were then located at http://www.jedinights.com/massassi/.
The site contined to grow (as you can see if you browse the old news section) with more staff members and more tutorials. Soon, we added our own message board (using WWWBoard, a threaded system), which rapidly grew to the point that we had to trim it every other day. So we opened another one (now we had an editing forum and a discussion forum).
Soon after that, we were provided our own sub-domain, and moved to: http://massassi.jedinights.com.
We then started posting author's levels, which turned out to be a feature that a *lot* of people really liked. Our hits soon surpassed that of our host, and due to some internal conflicts with Telefragged (the host of Jedi Nights), I decided to move the site to its own domain name.
Over the years, we've been graced with a great many talented staff members and visitors. We've had some great times, some troubling times, and some just plain average times. Throughout all of the "Jedi Knight is dying" threads and emails, we've proven that Jedi Knight is in fact *not* dead, proven once again by the fact that our traffic has grown steadily since the time the site was put online. And we are still growing! With new and exciting features being added often, news that's updated practically daily (okay, so we miss a day now and again), and a top notch group of administrators, this site has proven that it's got what it takes to survive. Rest assured we will be around for a long time to come.
Here's to Massassi, and here's to the wish of another great Star Wars action game!
If you have any comments on this (the order of specific details may be switched around - I can barely remember yesterday, much less 3 years ago!), feel free to leave them on this thread.
Over at Jedi Legacy the mysteriousness continues. Today we posted the first of a series of shots of an upcoming mod that is very near and dear to our hearts, in preparation for a release very soon. So, just what is this mystery mod? You'll have to come take a look at the pic yourself in order to find out, but here's a hint: old utensile, new environment.Be sure to head on down to Jedi Legacy to inspect this mystery with painstaking detail.

Description: This takes place a few years after the blockade incident on Naboo involving the Trade Federation. The Jedi Council has discovered a mysterious underground lair on the planet Dorin, the home planet of Plo Koon. Within this underground lair there are plans for a weapon with such capability that it can destroy an entire planet. If this news were to get out to the Republic, they would panic, and the result would be devastating. The council has therefore sent you, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to find the plans for this weapon and destroy them.
Authors note: I've included an Obi-Wan patch with this level. The patch is pretty important for this level, and when you save, make sure your lightsaber is not out, or else it will crash. Because of this, I put extra-effort into the level by making cutscenes with voices. And I set most enemies that shoot lasers to 1% health so you can deflect shots and kill them instantly like in the movie. I again would like to thank my brother "thejockofjazz" for doing the voice Koben Katarn.
P.S. You won't be getting a seizure from this one.

Description: The year is 2081, and you are one of the last survivors of the alien attack that wiped out the atmosphere of planet Earth. Fight against the other survivors for the last shuttle, and a chance to escape this nightmare, into the unknown...
This is a large JKMP level based on an abandoned space station. There are 2 modes of play, DM and RPG; the RPG version has AI, but it is not synched due to the COG being for MotS. With that in mind, don't be surprised if you see players figting mid-air: they are probably fighting enemies but because they are not synched, they are not at your end.
The security office in this level is where you can activate AI, it is advisable to raise the force field using the switch by the door before you spawn the AI, otherwise things could get dirty.
There is a new enemy also, the Droideka attack droid from Episode 1.
DM mode of play is the same level as AI apart from having the switches to activate the them. Secrets include a self-destruct button, which causes the reactor to overload, an alien landing site, and a disco traps room. Also hidden deep in the station is a gravity control switch, but I'm not telling you where they are. :)

Description: This patch, when run in JK Patch Commander, will change the mats in my level, Jade Garden, to 8-bit, so that 2D card users and people with 3D cards that don't support 16-bit mats in JK can play the level. Please bear in mind that this patch requires you to have previously downloaded Jade Garden.

Description: A small saber level, suitable for 2-4 players, Force or not. This arena is in a gothic/sci-fi setting; the dark shadows make for good hiding. Jump into the nebula well and see what happens...
RoX TC has a new site design. Although most of the site content hasn't changed much I did add a features page. The features page will be updated regularly with new screens and progress reports, so be sure to drop by and check it out.

Description: A JK enemy made from BFP2's Mecha-Jedi skin. Good for mini-bosses. Considerably tougher than a normal soldier but not quite challenging enough for a boss on its own.

Description: On a distant planet... under a sky of fire and gas... a long forgotten temple sits empty... waiting for the arrival of Jedi that are brave enough, strong enough, and hungry enough for battle...
This is a 16-bit multiplayer level that has guns and some nice sniping spots... lots of room for saber battles, too!! The winds howl your name... do you dare answer?

Description: This small-to-medium sized JK level resembles a paintball place near me I've been to. This is a first relase but not the last. I need some info and suggestions for this level and this would be a great way to get it out to the public for testing. It is completed for practical purposes but I want to see how people like this level and if I should invest any more of my life into this or just stop if nobody likes it.
If you've sent a level or a mod to us in the past and haven't seen it posted on our site yet, chances are you're among the bunch of invalid submissions. Please have just one last peek at our submission instructions and send your stuff in again. Thanks.
The #JediKnight/JKMAG Ji O NF Tournament was a success. 32 players participated in this frag fest that went on for a total of 3 hours(7-10PM Eastern). The only real problems that we ran into were a minor netsplit and a handful of players that weren't familiar on how to join through TCP/IP. All of the problems were remedied quickly. The turnout was great and we hope to bring more tournaments to the community in the NEAR future. We are working on a new #JediKnight Java Applet which will be more user-friendly and we will actually have a dedicated page for the competitions as well. We encourage everyone that wants to participate in the upcoming tournaments to become familiar with mIRC, so that your experience will be an even better one next time. I would like to thank everyone who participated, showed up or helped organize/run the tournament. Now for what you've all been waiting for:
