Rolling Revolution

The Massassi Temple » Levels/Mods » Jedi Knight Mod » Rolling Revolution

Description

Rolling Game was surprisingly successful for its simplicity. It presented a new type of gameplay to Jedi Knight - rolling in an obstacle course. With mostly just ramps and obstacles, Rolling Game provided hours of fun to those who discovered it. It was hailed as an instant classic.

Rolling Revolution is the official sequel to Rolling Game. It includes a large level pack consisting of nine levels. Six of the levels are completely new, and three of them are updated versions of previously released ones.

The mod is totally improved - physics are now compatible with high and low end systems, and unwanted "ramp deaths" have been removed. Also, many new features have been implemented, including an impressive stunt system with six different moves (use weapon #3), more music to roll along with, fun death markers to show where most deaths occur, and a revolutionary spectating mode to watch other players roll.

The following is a brief description of every level:

Rolling Game SE - by ID_Junkguy
This is an update of the classic Rolling Game level. It now includes lighting, 32 player support, and bug fixes.

Roll City - by ID_Junkguy
This new level contains a large Roll track located within a futuristic city. It is an extreme course that is meant for high speed races.

Let's Roll SE - by The Mega-ZZTer
This level is an update of the previously released Let's Roll! by The Mega-ZZTer, which featured moving obstacles. It now includes lighting and fewer impact deaths.

City Limits - by Vaporlinx
This new level by Vaporlinx has a night time city and cave theme. It's quite small and dark with some tight turns and dangerous obstacles, so careful rolling is recommended.

Arctic Roll - by ID_Junkguy
This new arctic themed level has three paths of different difficulties. The Hard Path is arguably the most challenging path in Rolling Revolution!

Canyon Dipper SE - by MrRavenX
This level is a slightly updated version of the previously released Canyon Dipper by MrRavenX. It features a racing course loaded with halfpipes, tunnels, boosters, ramps, walls, and other fun stuff!

On A Roll - by ID_Junkguy
This new canyon themed level has two short but difficult paths. Both paths are similar, requiring precise movement and a bit of luck. Try to stay on a roll, and see how many times you can beat the paths without dying!

Island Rollpark - by ID_Junkguy
This unique Rollpark is similar to a skatepark. In the middle of a serene island setting, this level features many halfpipes, quarterpipes, spines, ramps, steps, bumps, bridges, and pools. Bring along some friends and watch each other do amazing tricks!

Let's Roll: Director's Cut - by The Mega-ZZTer
This fun little level has many boosters, a ramp, and a large open area. The point of this level is to fly as far as possible by using the boosters. Play this level with others and try to break each other's distance records!

So what are you waiting for? Get Rolling!

Awesome work! I played this last night for 3 hours touring the levels! I love everything about it! It's just such a blast to play, and I love the whole concept of rolling over and over and getting more speed than you could ever hope to attain from running! And the music rocks! OI OI OI OI OI OI!

Probably one of the last, great mods for JK. While visually, it isn't amazing, the gameplay and all-around fun is incredible and addicting. I started playing, and couldn't stop. Great job... I hope for future released levels!

This message is primarily to ID_Junkguy because your e-mail address of junkguy@canada.com isn't working:

I modded your gametype, Rolling Revolution for Jedi Knight, to work without the need of a patch. It's a stand-alone level pack with the Rolling Revolution gameplay, using your levels, with the rolling mode and death markers (plus death marker toggling by using force throw) active. My mission was to make RR work without a patch, so it'd be easier to play with other people: just pick the level and go, no patches.

To accomplish this I cut out the music tracks, stunts and spectator mode, and migrated all cog coding to be level dependent. If this interests you at all, let me know and I'll e-mail it. Zipped it is 3.3 MB. I'm considering re-adding spectator mode, but am not sure if it's worth the effort (I never personally used it). If it's popular, let me know and I'll re-add it before sending.

P.S. - To people besides ID_Junkguy: if you think I should re-add spectator mode before getting this to ID_Junkguy (assuming he wants it), say so.

Quib Mask, I appreciate your effort in trying to make RR more convenient to play with others. However, I don't think that it would be too beneficial. People would get confused with the different versions of RR, and checksum errors may occur as a result. Also, the music and stunts are an important part of RR, and removing them would make it less fun. Sorry if I wasted your effort :/

Eh, it was 15 minutes of time/effort, and I've gotten a few friends together and had a blast in the levels, so it didn't go to waste. Personally, I dislike the music and the stunts are, uhh, pointless. But as far as racing and competing for scores went, the game is great. After playing with a handful of people, I could see how spectator mode would be fun: see how someone else made it through an expert course, so I'll readd it, even if my version never leaves my personal network.
