New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Valhalla Resort - Brian @ 12:31 AM
File: Valhalla Resort
Author: ApoK_DragonPhin and ApoK_FlipMoJack
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: A small level focusing on gameplay, but keeping in mind that visuals are important too. Set within an asteroid, around a natural hot spring, this level should serve an interesting and enjoyable game for saberists and gunners alike. The bridges and catwalks surrounding the pool allow players to traverse the level in a number of ways, keeping the game in a constant furor. Designed for a four player deathmatch, but with two players, the gameplay is not hindered. However, the more the merrier. Caters to fans of the NF all the way to FF.

New JK 3do Editor - Brian @ 12:36 PM
Before you get your hopes up, as with JkEdit, this new 3do editor is a trial version, as you have to pay a fee to use the full version. Anyway, on with the goods.

There is a new program called Jk3do 1.00 available at http://www.magicforce.com. This new product is created by Ole Thomasen, the creator of JkEdit and Wedit (Dark Forces editor). Here's the info straight from Ole himself:
Jk3do is the latest tool for creation of Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith custom 3do's. With Jk3do, you can create truly 3D objects, levering from sophisticated tools for creation of geometry sets, meshes, faces, and vertices.

As a total integrated 3D application using DirectX 7.0 from Microsoft, you instantaneously see the meshes you create. You can move around using either the arrow keys or the mouse and you can visualize your 3do rotating or animated.

With five different rendering modes and eight different view modes, Jk3do enables you to quickly create geometry sets, meshes, faces, and vertices:
  • You can carve meshes
  • You can extrude faces
  • You can move and rotate meshes, and faces
  • You can create rectangular, cylindrical, and dome shaped objects
  • You can move vertices
  • You can assign materials to faces
  • You can group faces by name
  • You can move and rotate named faces
  • You can auto-generate texture coordinates
  • You can auto-generate texture coordinates with your mouse
  • You can create and manage Animation Sequences
  • You can create and manage Animation Frames
  • You can create and manage GOB and GOO files
  • You can insert PUP and KEY files into your 3do
  • You can set and jump to bookmarks (camera positions)
New JkEdit - Brian @ 12:29 PM
There is a new version of JkEdit (3.09) available at http://www.magicforce.com. Version 3.09 of JkEdit contains some new enhancements and fixes:
  • Some times DirextX would crash due to texture problems
  • A new mirror texture option
  • A new texture alignment method when pasting surface
  • The conveyer belt direction was not always correct
  • New Undo/Redo options
  • Animation of custom pup and key files now possible

Lucasarts.com has updated their Screenshot of the Week with a new shot of Obi-Wan. It's a killer city-scape, much like the ones in JK. I hate to admit it, but I'm really looking forward to this game...

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane... - darkjedi86 @ 12:07 PM
Yep, I'm leaving on a jet plane, but I do know when I'll be back again. Tomorrow morning I'll be flying from South Florida to somewhere a little bit north of Los Angeles, California. I should be back next Sunday night. I highly doubt I will be anywhere near a computer (it's a family reunion), so don't expect to see my pretty face online. I'm going to forward all of my mail to my @massassi.com address so I can check it as webmail (just in case), but I make no promises of answering or reading any mail at all. With that said, I'll see you all in a week!
More Levels @ MPG - Brian @ 6:58 AM

New Diary of a Crazed Mimbanite - Brian @ 2:08 AM
Got word that Al has updated DCM to number 57. You can check it out at his page. What's DCM? It's a Star Wars parody comic strip authored by Al MacDonald, one of JK's premier skinners (why not download his skin pack?).
3DStudio Max Jr. - Brian @ 2:02 AM
Jedi Legacy announced that Discreet will be releasing a "lite" version of their popular 3d modelling program, 3D Studio Max. Why do we announce this here? In case you didn't know, it's been said that the upcomging game Obi-Wan doesn't have a specific level editor, as all the levels are being done in 3D Studio Max. Thanks JL, Polycount, and Voodoo Extreme.

Cog Article - Brian @ 10:08 AM
DragonPhinn pointed out this article @ Gamasutra that talks about the creation of Cog. It was written by Rob Heubner, formerly of Lucasarts, but currently working at Nihilistic. We've posted news on this article in the past, but as we're always getting new visitors, I figured a lot of people might find it interesting.

Somewhat unrelated, he also pointed out this article that deals with cheating in online games.
