CG Magazine Scan - Brian @ 11:26 PM
Vinny and osiris posted a scan of the article mentioned below on this thread in the discussion forum. Very interesting, indeed.
Massassi & Command Chamber in Computer Games Magazine - Brian @ 8:07 PM
Chris sends word that the print June 2001 issue of Computer Games Magazine contains an 'Afterlife' column that features Jedi Knight and MotS. I'll post the text Chris sent here. I wasn't able to find a copy, unfortunately, because they have been replaced with the July issues. I am going to see if I can't order a back issue tomorrow morning. Anyway, here's the snippet, written originally by Brett Todd.
"A long time ago...
One game I can't seem to stop reinstalling is ucasArts legendary Jedi Knight. The groundbreaking sequel to Dark Forces may be nearing it's fourth birthday, but both it and the Mysteries of the Sith expansion pack still feature some of the most compelling first-person shooting [and, uh, sabering] this side of modern efforts like the afore mentioned No One Lives Forever. If you don't own either game, do yourself a favor and pick them up from a bargain bin near you. If you do own them, cruise over to The Massassi Temple and the Admiral's Command Center for a look at the many user-designed solo missions and multiplayer maps available.

Be prepared to surrender a lot of time to your PC if you're a Star Wars fan, though. Many of the home-brewed missions boast LucasArts-like design touches, some even go beyond the outstanding quality of retail levels such as "The Falling Ship." I've just lost the better part of a weekend to SavageX's epic "Leeza's Destiny 3.0" and Ryan Bickhart's incredible "Imperial Siege on Derra IV." Each features puzzles, new cutscenes, and all of the other frills that make an FPS level truly memorable. "Imperial Siege" may be the best user-designed level I've ever played for any game. Any way you look at it, getting back to Jedi Knight is a great way to kill time while waiting for Hayden Christansen to turn into Darth Vader in Episode II"
Big thanks to Chris for sending in the email. If you have this mag and a scanner, please scan the page(s) and send them to me!

The Admiral's Command Chamber has been very busy lately. They've posted a few new single player reviews, a new level feature (which is a spotlight of an upcoming level), a couple of new levels for download, and a walkthrough of Imperial Pumping Station, a JK single player level by Kiramin.

This was too amusing to not post. Check out http://www.elited.net/ - click on the 1337 Comic by D.T. Carel link in their news.
Obi-Wan Interview - Brandon @ 7:15 PM
I saw on Voodoo Extreme that TeamXbox has posted an interview with LucasArts' Julio Torres who is the Assistant Producer of Obi-Wan. Here's a sample:
"What can players expect to see in Obi-Wan?"

"The main focus of this game is for the player to really feel like they are a Jedi. That has been the goal since the start of the project. In order to achieve this, we had to make sure the player had complete control over the light saber. We struggled with this for about a year staying away from creating a game where your saber fighting is a button-matching thing because you don't really have control. That is when we came up with the idea of using the analog stick for the saber. The way this works is that any direction you want the saber to swing, a player just has to move the analog stick in that direction."
Mat Section Updates - Brandon @ 8:51 AM
Thanks to Agent J for submitting a few mats. He sent in a Phat Mat Pack which can be found in the Mat Pack category, a Slime mat which is in the Water category, and an updated Ceiling Tiles mat which may be downloaded in the Ceiling category. Thanks to all those who have sent their mats in, and remember that you're always welcome to submit your mats.

This just in from Rbots:
The next public release - 0.30 will feature difficulty settings, and I'd like your input on what they should be. I need a name for each of the 10 levels to describe how difficult they are and a description of how each level is different. Post your ideas on the Rbots forum.

He was sold to Svan Mardak, a notorious killer on Ovoo IV. After given an assigment to hunt down and kill a senator who had just recently dared to tread on the pride of Svan's employer, Kohan Gatspsus, Nine Ex was sent to do the dirty job himself. ThreeDeeNineEx was supposed to shoot the senator right in the middle of his speech in the Grand Colessium. Earerly awating the downfall of him nemesis, Kohan attended the speech. 9X was just lining up his sights right in the middle of the senator's fat forehead, when he had a change of heart. So, shifting his sights over to Kohan, who was sitting right beside the senator, shot him right in the face. Thinking that NineEx was useless, and had commited a crime, Svan junked him. Nine years later, a young nobleman was riffling through the trash, to find parts for his new accountant droid, which he thought he would call 8T88, He found an intact droid head, and it seemed to attached to something. Digging deeper, he found what was left of 3D9X, and decided to put off the 8T88 project, and re-assemble 3D9X... (description continues for quite a bit in the readme file)

Raven Interview - Brian @ 2:41 PM
Voodoo Extreme pointed out that MindlessGames has conducted an interview with Raven Software's Kenn Hoekstra. Watch out for popup ads (I think I counted 5!?). Not much about Jedi Knight II, but if you're interested in the other Raven projects (like Soldier of Fortune 2), be sure to read it.
Small Mats Section Upgrade - Brian @ 3:59 AM
The mats section now gives the option to view each texture tiled. For example, this is the old way and this is the new way. At the bottom of each shot, you can choose whether or not you want it tiled. This should help you figure out whether you are happy with how well a texture stitches before you download it and copy it to your project directory.
New Jedi Outcast Screenshots - Brian @ 3:27 AM
ZeroXcape let me know in the chat room that Lucasarts has released two new screenshots of Jedi Outcast: Jedi Knight II. One of them looks awesome, but the other pictures some overly rounded storm troopers. Hopefully these will be re-modeled as time goes on... Remember, you can find loads of JK2 information on our Jedi Knight II information page.
