It's been awhile since I've commented on a level. First off, I could do a better with boxes only, but I consider myself pretty good, that's just my opionion BTW.

But the truth is, you don't only have boxes like in DF! You have sloped surfaces, curcular objects (which you can have curcular objects in DF I believe), and many more then what is put here.

If these are your first levels, try having someone beta before releasing. Also, in the future, if you're going to release a group of levels, make it a level pack. okay? Thank you for your time

i think that people are way too hard on these new people. and Sith_Da_Axe is right, massassi is dying, and so we need everybodies support so we can get this thing back online. a note to the author of this level, i would download this, but i can't find my JK cd anymore.

Since when was Massassi dying? The Zone may be messed up, but that has no effect on Massassi. You can still connect via IP or modem, or use Gamespy or some other gaming server.

There's -plenty- you can do with JK. Just because the author hasn't used any particularly advanced techniques doesn't mean they shouldn't be considered when giving the level a rating. It's a poor level, no arguement.

Jedi Knight won't survive on low-quality levels; if this were the quality of most levels, the whole community would have kicked the bucket a long time ago.

That said, the author should look at some tutorials, and not release anything until he has something of respectable quality to show for his work. And to move to JED, which I presume he is not using.

Ok, Here is my personal opinion. We should not congradulate people on making levels that are simply crap. Add some corners to you level, Try getting a better mat job, and go for some detail. This level could have tooken maybe a couple of hours, max. Now im not saying, O)( J00 R DA SUXORS. J()() SOTP mAKIN leVELs. Im saying put alittle more elbow grease into you work and go for detail. I heard someone say that a good JK level can take from a week to a month to make. The other thing is add something to do in the level, But dont over do it. Cogs are your friend :).

I won't rate this level but most people don't realize that if used right boxes can be a good thing, with a box I could make a perfect skybox, saying I make the right textures, with the box I can make a speaker system (image only: still needs cogs and .wav for actual audio) I can make a simple column and give it a stucko texture, or even different styles of texture for detail. I can make a mod where you can beat eachother with 2 x 4's instead of sabers (though it would need new animations to be worth anything).

My point is you can do alot of graphically fun things with boxes. using cyllendars and slopes should just be used where needed when the level is actually playable.

Yes, levels take weeks, even months to build. You think that Jeff Walters made drazen in a week or a month, I say it took much longer. I know SM Sith Lord has been working on an awesome level called SMHQ for around a year now. he uses alot of round areas and the *beta* is better than any other JK level on Massassi. but look at some of his first work, such as Purgatory. which is boxy, even uses mostly default textures, but it's a pretty distinct level which 9 out of 10 people thinks is awesome. one commenter said he could make a level of that quality in 15 minutes, but the point is it's boxy, and people play it, and most people tell me that it's their favorite JK level.

I wouldn't worry too much about JK's ancient graphics in the future though

There is absolutely tons to do with Jedi Knight. Making at least BASIC architecture is one of them. Boxes and 3dos dont cut it. If you're going to make levels like that, don't release them. Sure, I made my fair share of them, but that was only while I was experimenting. You have to think about a level before you release it: Will the people like it? And after all of the top-notch, and sadly, even mediocre levels that have been released, inexperience does not make up for this level.

People who have not mastered the ways of editing should not be yelled at but given advice. When a person just begins doing a project, don't expect him to be automatically great at it. After all you were once like him. If you do things that are wrong to people, don't expect for the effects not to come back to you. They will reach you and there will be no time to scream.
