i'm sorry for those that say it's too dark. i've stated from the begining that the setting was going to be a dark one, and i have balanced that out by putting batteries in the map.
however, i have played personally with about 7 people now, and nobody said they couldn't see. either it's your video card, or you are just looking at the pics.
i built this map to look like nothing ever seen before so that people would get pulled back into playing jedi knight, so i'm sure many people who have played jedi knight a long time will be upset with me; mainly because it isn't like a typical jk map setting.
i used the same approach with CTF-Hover, and while all the old school CTF players ripped me to shreds, a lot of people who've never given CTF a chance are starting to play. i know a lot of you don't like my style, but i'm just trying something new.
i have a geforce2 mx 400 w/ a samsung syncmaster 955df. i can see perfectly -- and i mean perfectly -- with JK's brightness setting at its minimum.
For the screenshots, you really have to raise the brightness if you want more people do download it. Many are discouraged by a level that they can't really see, and don't want to bother turning up the brighness.
Let's do a quick re-enactment, to illustrate how this level is rated 7 overall as of August 10, 2002 at 9:20 PM.
* * * * *
*John Doe sees a new level on Massassi's front page*
*John Doe clicks the level link*
*John Doe takes a second-and-a-half to read the description, glances at the file size and # of downloads, and clicks the screenshots*
*John Doe, not understanding the concepts of monitor brightness, image compression, and artfully added darkness, immediately opens his "mouth" on the comment board*
*John Doe's comment reads, "NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!11 TIHS LVL IS TO DRAK!!!1"*
*John Doe adds a rating of 2 to the level after looking at the screenshots, since he thinks that he knows what the level is all about*
*John Doe goes outside to play and ride on his scooter, and gets run over by a semi*
*Blood Asp checks his download #, ratings, etc.*
*Blood Asp looks at his 7, and feels slightly cheated*
*Blood Asp's feelings are hurt because ignorant raters don't acknowledge how much effort he gives to his work*

Use some common sense, guys. I didn't rate it after looking at the screenshots. However, if I did, I would have tried to recognize how beautifully it was all pieced together.
I'm eating an apple right now. How does it taste? Can you tell me? Just try to tell me how my apple tastes. YOU CAN'T. YOU HAVEN'T TASTED/TESTED MY APPLE. Therein is the lesson raters must learn. Good day.
