Description
Changes in v3.0:
- In-game message and player list font is clearer and easier to read.
- New and improved lightsaber blades and motion trails to more closely reflect the style of the movie effects.
- Five lightsaber fighting stances for the single-bladed sabers and two for the Sith lightsaber can be toggled at will.
- Lightsaber damage of all sabers can be turned on or off for the purposes of training.
- New lightsaber hilts per saber color for the single-bladed lightsabers.
- Four new single-bladed lightsaber moves and old double slash reassignment.
- Lightsaber coding is improved in various ways.
- Force Saber Throw replaces Force Speed. It is quasi-controllable and much more useful. All lightsabers can be thrown and the path they travel in the air depends on which direction you're moving (if at all). Since the lightsaber remains on the entire time (unless you switch it off or switch weapons), the amount of damage and range possible are more realistic. Consequently, thrown sabers can also be blocked by other Jedi or Sith and can pass through people, walls, and objects.
- Force Push replaces Force Throw. It has been made more stable and is able to push ANYTHING-actors, droids, debris, items, and projectiles.
- I've added and replaced many skins and have fixed many errors. Also, they all have their correct right hands now-finally, no more Kyle hands on everyone! Speaking of Kyle, his model is entirely new, 16-bit, and completely matches the cutscenes!

(P.S. - Super MoD, I really like the 'fuzzy' effect on the sabers instead of the 'translucency' in the middle :D - very very cool, lot's of people will play this online for SURE... *sigh JK2 JK2 JK2...*)
But that's the only fault I can find with it, so I give it a 9, which is still a great score.

The sabers were fluid, cool, and downright ass kickin in sbx style. I dont really care about the replaced force speed, and force throw is pretty annoying, as now everyone uses it, again and again...I still kill em though, heh. The stances was a really nice touch, i would have thought it even better, but I played GotG ME, so i already knew of the idea. still, stances in sbx are amazing, great job on that. All in All, a perfect 10. We can only imagine what Sbx4 will be like..
My biggest peeve was when Kyle walks normally (without holding down shift), he...walks funny. His arms just stand still as he walks.
Not really mad, but I found it funny that when you throw the lightsaber, Kyle's hand goes with it.

THE jk mod. Great Job.
Of course the mods are in competition. All mods and editings works are, in a way. That's what naturally happens in a system which supports the free exchange of ideas (e.g. massassi.net). It helps to sort out what people like and don't like; what works and doesn't work. But what seems to be lacking at times is "constructive" critism and comparison that can help authors to improve, contemplate, or rethink ideas.
SBX and GotG are both very considerable works. It mostly comes down to personal taste as to which one you would prefer.

P.S.-I really don't see the big deal in getting first post so just stop with those commments too. All it proves is that some people have a LOT of free time on their hands.

Nice work anyway; what's better in the MotS version?
Such as the removal of force speed, and field light and ir goggles. I really hated my field light being gone because for one thing, I use god detector a lot and now since god detector isnt available in this mod, that = more cheap players.
Anyhow anyway, outstanding! Great skins, also I would like to congragulate the editor of the Yarah Dahile skin, which was great.
1. You can fix the hand on the saber throw by adding a right hand to all the models, and making the hand on the weapons invisible. I dunno how you could make it more aimable, but tha'd be nice.
2. You should have new animation sets for the extended saber, you should be able to do some jabs and poke type moves with it.
3. You should add sith and jedi amulets like from the expanded universe, like what Ulic had. You know, have the dark side one for sith (they'd have to have certain force selected) that could do some force destruction type stuff, and a light side amulet that mirrored it, did the opposite.
As for your mod, it's well done. I was disappointed though - the "new Kyle" is really just a new skin.
Everyone - Read the SBX documentation which happens to come with the mod before reporting bugs. Also, please stop comparing SBX to GotG in such crude ways. I know it's easy to say, "This rules while that sucks," or whatever, but try to be more respectful and make constructive criticisms only, please. Also, no dual sabers! [I'm not] Sorry [at this point after being pleaded to death about twin sabers, which are dual sabers you can hold with one saber in each hand and swing with duality, or wield two lightsabers like Boc add them to SBX now PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NOW NOW NOW MINE MINE MINE]. LOL
Emon - 1: I'm currently using the method you described for the hands, so the thrown hand is unavoidable unless a new node is added to all skins for weapons. I'm not going to do that much work for such a little error. 2 and 3: I SHOULD, huh? LOL. While new long saber moves would be cool, I don't want to take the immense amount of effort to make them. Also, the amulets would be going a little too far I think. For example, a Sith amulet that causes destruction would be rather redundant since you can already use powers like Destruction, my new Push, Throw (in SBX 3.1), Deadly Sight, and Lightning.
Fardreamer - As a matter of fact I emailed not only Blink but YOU (and one or two other AotL coders, I forgot) way back when before I released SBX2 in order to ask for permission. I NEVER received a response from anyone other than Blink. I wasn't about to wait any longer than a week for additional responses, so I released SBX2 with the AotL stuff with only Blink's permission, as he's the only one who responded to my email. My guess is that your email address on the Sandcrawler Productions site is outdated. In that case, correct that if you wish to receive requests for permission in the future. Of course, the only things I used from AotL unmodified are a couple of the saber handles and the left and right rolls. I heavily modidifed Force Jump Flip (using my own animations and altered code) and Force Heal Other and several of the handles. I added the saber blades and trails to all the handles myself, as well. Still, I'm glad that you're not trying to pull my mod off of Massassi or anything over this. There's nothing in this world I despise more than bitchy, selfish authors of computer works; the type who say, "I stopped working on my project for 3 months in order to punish you all for pissing me off!" (heheh, go to www.zophar.net to see this special one). Well, I guess there are things I despise more, but still :)

I guess it's not your fault, though. This moron Blink still pretends to be the PR guy or something like that, even though I told him time and time again that he is no longer in charge (since Sandcrawler Productions) is no more. But I see he's still authorizing use of my work behind my back.
The Kyle skin is amazing, but it's just that - a skin. It says on the mod description on this page "new Kyle model" - so I was expecting a rounded-out, better-shaped player model. ;)
A most excellent mod. I make an effort to play all SP and MP levels with SBX. I have questions though for you and the masses.
The question: I'm new to this mod and in a MP game I got a thorough ass kicking because I didn't know all the new tricks (the back flipping, kicking, force jump flip, etc.). Is there a site out there that has info on how to do all these? I've looked and yet no find.

I found a bug, though, which is quite annoying. When I load a game (saved using this mod) it occurs very often that I can't change the saber stance. And Kyle holds the lightstaff in a way he usually can't, so that one blade always cuts touches the floor and makes a lot of noise. I suggest you take a look at that. I also miss the bowcaster and concussion rifle, but well, doesn't matter, really.

#1. As you probably know, in many other saber mods that have more than one type of saber etc (GotG) the sabers are grouped in the weapon 10 slot. I didnt really like the fact that u replaced the conc rifle and bowcaster (two of my favorite weapons). I think that you should do something like the auther of IWP 2 did, where if you have more than 10 types of weapons, you can select those by using the next weapon, previous weapon key, without taking up the valuble slots for the other weapons. Besides, do you know how annoying it is to kill grave tuskens and have sith sabers littering the battle field? And to have your power cell level shown when you use your sith saber? Just a thought.
#2. I think that the flashing effect of the sabers was sort of bitter sweet. Its basically the same thing that was used in the flash sabers mod, in an attempt to make them more realistic, but in my opinon, glowsabers are just great anyway, and you dont need the flash. My reasons for this are: A) In the first person view (even though sabers are sucky in FPV anyway) the flash was quite apparent and looked corny and unrealistic. B) When in a high lag situation the flash slows right down, and totally ruins the saber's asthetically pleasing affect.
The natural movement of the lightsaber in 3rd person view as a result of breathing causes enough of a coruscating affect so the saber doesn't look like a glass stick. If you removed the flashing stuff, I think you could cut down the download some and make the sabers more realistic. Dont worry about first person view with a lightsaber because its totally useless. (Duh)
#3. I was playing level 4 when I first noticed that when I threw my saber I threw my hand with it. I thought that was funny, and I know that u arent gonna fix it because of what you told emon. However, if you make another version, I think you SHOULD fix it.
I liked your new kyle skin, that was very nice. Also liked the multiplayer action and skins, truly amazing. The ability to change your stance was very cool. Liked your saber tool icons (change color etc.) I also liked how you beefed up the sounds for the weapons, it was more realistic. Maybe in the next version u can tweak the explosion graphics to make them more real and less cartoonish. And also, with thermal detonators, I think you should change the "tink tink tink" when u bounce em, to a deeper, "bonk, bonk, bonk, BOOM!!!" The sound is in Space Soldiers 3, when u trigger a thermal trap in multiplayer levels. In case u dont know what im talking about. I also liked how you lowered the AI health values so its one shot one kill most of the time. You have the heart of a sniper. :) (thats a compliment) However, i think it should take two shots from a repeater to kill enemies, since one of its shot has the power of a spitball. I dont know if thats possible, I am not an editor. All in all, great mod, keep up the good work Shadow, ill look forward to playing future mods by you.

This mod freaken rules this game will just not die becuase of all the talented people that make great mods for such a old engine.
contructive cristism for u: I absolutely love this mod!! However one thing is still hanging in the air... the saber look. I know they are better then just about anything out their. However, if u were to erase everthing on the blade except the core, and then make a larger glow on the color (only one color) and make it flash, it might look more like the movies. After all, the movie lightsabers are just a bright core with a glow of red, green, blue etc. around the core(and a hint of color in the core).
