The Dark Wanderer

Posted: 2001-05-05 1:56 p.m.   Report Abuse Hey, Gibraltar! This is Ben. I'm the 19th download. Anyway, cool mod. Diablo II is probably one of my all-time favorite games for the PC. I give it an 8. Here's a thought: make one of Diablo himself (in his Diabolic form, of course). Or Tyrael would be good. Anyway, great job!

Posted: 2001-05-06 9:12 a.m.   Report Abuse I am very well aware of the Dark Wanderer's true identity, thank you. Check the front of the Diablo II box. That's not Baal, that's the Dark Wanderer, made to look more scary than he is in the cutscenes. And if you'll check the color of the cloak he'd wearing on that same picture, the color is black, not brown. I know perfectly well what Baal looks like, and if I had wanted it to look like Baal, I would have added sectors to his body for tentacles.

If I had wanted Diablo, I would have drawn his skin instead and used Jed to help me make a template for him. I didn't want to make Baal and I didn't want to make Diablo, I just wanted to make the fraggin' DARK WANDERER!!
Now, if someone has a comment on how THE DARK WANDERER looks, by all means, let me have it full force. But DO NOT razz me about DIABLO, as he is NOT the skin I created!

Posted: 2001-05-07 11:39 a.m.   Report Abuse eheh thats what i meant, that aint the dark wanderer on the front of the box... sorry... if my sources are correct, that pic is of Albrect (host body for diablo in the first game, note how hes dead, cuz its just his skull, no flesh, and theres a hole in his forehead) but that quest was cut out of the game because it was too big, but left his pic there just from lack of a better idea

He was left behind in the monastery in the first Diablo game, and the Warrior from that game was the one who took Diablo's spirit into himself in order to contain him. The cutscene at the very end of Diablo I shows Albrecht lying on the floor with a huge gash in his forehead, and then shows the player jamming Diablo's Soulstone into his/her own forehead. And when I look at the box, I see a jagged line going down the center of the forehead, but no huge gash where the stone should have been were it he. Besides, that's not the facial structure of a chubby-cheeked child, which is exactly what Albrecht was; that's a fully grown adult grinning at you.
Forgive my manners. I don't want to argue. I just want the players to enjoy the mod, that's all.

Posted: 2001-05-10 5:54 p.m.   Report Abuse Gibraltar is correct. The dude on the Diablo II box is the Dark Wanderer. If you watch the final cutscene, the man talking to Marius turns out to be none other than the Dark Wanderer himself. Anyway, the color of the cloak or whatnot doesn't matter a bunch, because like it or not, Diablo and all related characters are ficticious. For all you know, the Dark Wanderer has a full wardroom of robes, from the deepest blacks to the laciest pinks.

Posted: 2001-05-16 8:46 p.m.   Report Abuse Okay - if you watched the final cutscene Marius says "Baal..oh no" or something of that sort - and its the dark wanderer(well...same clothes)because when Marius sees his true face its the same one on the box, oh and Baal does have a "human" like form, which is probably the dark wanderer, and if youve noticed when you go out in act 3 for first time i believe your char says "I have failed, baal has already---" i forget rest, and the dark wanderer sort of walks as if he just got to Kurast and disappears

Posted: 2001-06-02 10:19 p.m.   Report Abuse First, I supose you could count Baal as another Dark Wanderer if you wanted to, but the one I chose was the one I thought I was doing, which is Diablo. Take it or leave it.
Second, I want people to enjoy the mod, not quibble over who's who. Especially when it comes to D2, which isn't even related to JK. We're just cluttering the message boards by arguing.
Third, BLAH! Just put it into your Patch Commander and have fun with him!

Posted: 2001-09-02 11:46 a.m.   Report Abuse Okay, here goes-I was a beta tester for Diablo 2 and I know TONS about the game. The Dark Wanderer is the guy on the front of the box. So the skin is accurate. Also, The Dark Wanderer is Diablo in his human form (the form of the warrior from Diablo 1 whom he posessed.) I hope this clears up any questions about the identity of the wanderer/diablo.
