Description
My Ninja Kage skin with my voice acting replaces Kyle Katarn:
- Many of the normal characters are now zombies -- SP and MP
- Five new ninja besides Kage (kah-gay; shadow) for MP games: Hayashi (ha-yah-she; forest/nature), Gouka (goh-ka; hell fire), Denkou (den-koh; lightning), Hyougen (he-yoh-gen; ice/snow field), and Shiro (she-row; white)
- Authentic Ninja To (nin-ja toe; ninja sword) with custom moves and bloody slashes
- The sword is much more realistic -- all moves do greater damage and can be swung faster
- When armed with the sword, you go into "stealth mode" which makes all of your footsteps silent
- An unused stab animation for the sword has been added and adjusted
- Once you swing the sword for the first time, it is able to inflict damage to anything and anyone with a mere touch -- a feature that SHOULD have been in JK in the first place!
- Authentic Kunai (koo-n'eye; ninja throwing knives) replace the Thermal Detonators, and are able to chop off limbs and heads in SP games
- You can decapitate Stormtroopers sometimes in SP games with the sword or kunai
- Instead of smoke trails appearing when you chop off an arm or head, blood flies about
- Authentic Shuriken (shoo-ree-ken; ninja throwing stars) replace the Bryar Pistol
- Sharp, spiked caltrops for injuring pursuers replace the Stormtrooper Rifle
- Kick while holding any weapon. It isn't just one single hit like a punch -- it's six hit points in an arc!
- Escape danger by doing an evasive back handspring
- Use the Grappling Hook to reach far-off places
- Force Blind is replaced with Force Push (pushes everyone in sight)
- Force Seeing and Persuasion have less annoying/stealthier noises
- Force Lightning is now ninja lightning magic that rains from the sky, surrounding you, as well as lancing forward from your hands
- Force Destruction is now Crimson Rain, falling from directly above you and scattering anyone and anything all around you
- Start the game equipped with shuriken, caltrops, kunai, ninja to, IR goggles, field light, grappling hook, and full shields
- You can stick to and jump up walls as long as they're not vertical or leaning in your direction
- Many character animations are improved or totally redone

1. Add more weapons.
2. Let the user see what weapon is armed.
3. My footsteps still made noise with the sword armed. Am I missing something?
4. I love the ability to inflict damage w/ the sword w/o swinging but is it possible to do so with hitting only players and not walls? It is annoying to hear that clack clack sword sound when you face a wall from close range.
I love the skin and someone should make a saber patch that can do damage and swing like this. I also like that you left the reflective property of the lightsaber in your sword. The stick to walls is also nice as are the other features.
Keep up the good work and I look forward to more patches from you. I gave your patch an 8.

I love the ninja and the sword.(The sword is my fav part) The things that bother me are the sword always clnks when you go neer a wall, and I don't like the zombie thing. Other than that, this mod is excelant!
it would be great if you added a MotS ver. though (plz do if u can)
What if they were grappled to each other...humm...targeted grappling with the force targeting circles, same sword, and a bunch of partially bald guys...SOMEONE CASH IN!!!
(Update) I tried it...the idea sucked. We just orbited around each other in mid air.
about 85 - 90 percent of the people who have the ninja kage mod like the 'touch damage' property on the sword (which humourously enough DOES get sharpened to the point which you can stab someone DUH) so i dont think there is much of a chance it will be taken out of next version. right?
as for the guy who wants a ninja kage version without blood LOL *Coughs*
i think that goes without saying =) maybe you should go play tetris or pacman, or maybe online chess or something that doesn't involve graphical violence because i hate to break it to you, but jedi knight alone endorses violence through hacking your enemies' limbs off with a lightsaber, making a lightshow of a bunch of storm troopers with a concussion rifle or what not - things of the like. your a big boy now, i'm sure you can handle a bit of blood without throwing up, wetting your pants or running to momsey :P

I would give this otherwise great mod at least 8/9 if it were not for one thing.......THE SWORD HITS EVERYTHING WHILE U ARENT ATTACKING!!! STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT!!!! This must be changed in a later version! Running around with the constant 'ching ching cling' of the 'Ninja To' grates upon the nerves as does every passer-by keeling over as soon as u approach. It takes out the challange and makes going 'Light-side' difficult when u need to keep the civies alive. Please change this soon ShadowX. And add some models for the knives and stuff in 1st person. Air turning into blades is a little naff.i agree

2.NO MORE ZOMBIES! 3.It won't be called ninja kage, it will be called the "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" mod for JK. 4. Replace all weapons with weapons from CT,HD (crouching tiger hidden dragon). Instead of caltrops, a wrist dart launcher, instead of bowcaster, an actual crossbow. Instead of repeaterrepeaterrepeater, that cool dart gun thing Jade Fox used in the films climax, instead of rail det. , a bow and arrow, instead of sequencer charges, caltrops (yay), instead of conc rifle, umm... I'm sure you'd think of some cool ninja weapon. Ooh! Ooh! Instead of Ninja To, (da dada daaah!) THE GREEN DESTINY SWORD!! (multiple oohs and aahs from crowd). So waddya say? A good idea? SavageX? X? Hey where is every body?!? HEY ANYBODY?!? HELLOOOOOOOOOO?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The skins are good, the weapons are... okay, the enemies are weird, and the klinkklinkklink as you walk down a hall with the sword drawn is driving me INSANE!!!!!!
As does running around with it drawn when the 'classical pose' (Hollyweird) is one hand stabilizing the sheath by your hip and the other ready to quick draw over your shoulder.
This especially applies to the 'monkey runners' who enterred like catburglars by jumping roof to roof through the otherwise nearly impregnable Japanese medieval fortresses.
I can't count the number of times I hit 'ctrl=sabreoff' trying to get rid of that damn noise but unfortunately, it's either 0-out or 2-3-4 useless handmissilery, no quickdraw at all.
It should also be remembered that the /original/ Ninja koryu clans had no high quality sword steel and indeed to have such a weapon in one's possession would be an instant death penalty offense for both owner and registered swordsmith.
Hence when the early groups DID have swords (instead of farm implements, staves and knives) they were more tools than katana like symbologic weapons and very crude.
Later groups were little more than 'my other suit' assassins operating sotto voc under the glory of the 'believable denial' that was the honorable Samurai houses.
That this could be reflected in the pursuit of more competent (longer reaching) blades: Katana, Dai Katana, Yari, Naginata as the player 'moved up in the world' is ignored.
Shaiken (plural of Shuriken IIRR) should be deployable as Fire-2 WITH the sword out. It only makes sense IMO since the game sword is so /very/ lethal that it doesn't really need a second employment mode.
Even as many of the movement-to-contact areas are so HUGELY 'open' and you are absolutely exposed that to cripple or blind (shock equivalent) while you ran up to slice and dice an opponent makes more sense for the throwing knives.

Vs.
Throw-Blind-BlasterBlock and /kill to live/ with the Ninja To.
After all, the use of Shuriken and Katana haft knives was originally a /Samurai/ trick for hitting eyes, throat and vulnerable joints (or distract him thru worry about such a potential attack) thru the opponent's heavy armor in battle.
The difference between Kunai and Senban shuriken is hard to tell other than '3 do scatter more' effect of the latter.
With the excellent functioning of the grapnel, I would prefer something more like a Kusari Gama whip-scythe or even a true (assymetric) bow with variable throat cutter halfmoon or heavy swordsteel (armor piercing) arrow capabilities.
Anything to let me hit multiple enemy around me at median lengths without having to 'walk right up to him'.
I agree that the zombie effect is distasteful. There are a LOT of /really good/ Shinto and Buddhist myth-monsters, not least the crow-demons (Tengu IIRR) that are themselves part of the legend of 'where the Ninja got their powers' origin.
Climbing up walls is something best done with shuko or related 'hand (and foot) claw' systems and are in fact little conceptually different from what a lineman uses to service wooden telephone and power poles.
Given how weak the character is (and how little room to jump and flip in most hallway-levels) it would certainly make sense _and be more interesting_ if you had or could find them but they are a function of auxilliary /equipment/, not spiderman abilities.
Crawling up the wall of a building to bypass a floor full of nasty bodyguards is more like what a (smart) assassin does, trying to reach his target.
'Ninja Magic' is disappointing. You get none of the funky interlocking hand symbols or chi-intensive isometric limb opposition movements to 'enhance the feel' and even good audio options like the ghoul-moan from MOTS are missed out in in the sound-adds-drama department.
Lastly, ninpo. It's not magic, it is simply the combination of own-sensory enhancement discipline and Hara Gi (literally 'from the belly' sense) to detect the enemies emotive presence and, with training, to flow /around/ their equivalent peripheral detection zone (hi or low, fast or slow).
I frankly don't know if JK will support a detection cone but if so it should be implemented this way.
OTOH, since Samurai are taught to be death-at-any-moment at peace with as well as apart from the normal worries of mortality, it is a question of what's-there-to-sense vs. hyeer-kitty-kitty and this also should be reflective of 'some you can't sneak around'...
Unfortunately, 'no footfalls with sword drawn' doesn't even come close (some of the half-visible shadow outlines of other mods are better) and I get very little effective feeling for being the first man to get 'sight' of an enemy as a function of choosing whether I engage him.
Certainly standing 20-40ft away, 'sword in hand' from bad guys shooting blaster bolts at me in multiple is a great way to look foolish as hell.
Lot's of Potential Here. I only hope the guy get's his head out of the Halloween-III fun house and does a fullup TC to a more appropriate 1400-1700 period Japan piece.
