Description

This is an update of my original DeathShip level. It is three times bigger, and has more powerups. Its purpose is still the same though, to blast the crapola out of your opponents!

Overall, a fun level for a 20 minute game.

The architecture is good; simple, but nice touches. The texturing is good; simple, a bit repetitive, but good. Lighting is good; a bit bright in the main areas though. Item placement is just about right.

Maybe a tiny bit too much rail ammo. A hard-to-get conc would be good, if placed away from the power cells. The level is a bit big and empty. If you selected all the sectors and scaled by .8 or so, and then added more areas it would be better I think. The framerate also seems too low; I think it could probably be optimized. Some 3dos, ambient sounds, etc. would be nice.

Perfect size for any battle. Guns a plenty means this lvl is mainly for those who rather use a rail detonator than a lightsaber. Force really can be on or off here. Only major problem is the VERY VERY low framerate in the major rooms.

Does anyone else notice what makes these levels (and the original JK lvls) so fun? Symmetry! It may not ALWAYS apply (Canyon Oasis does have some pattern to it), but the overall idea of knowing whats around the corner before even turning it makes a player better. And what lvls do players play the most of? The lvls they are good at. To all you budding lvl designers out there, remember: people want lvls they are the most skilled at. Give them a dillusion of grandeur and you're set. Gracias!
