A Memorial - blujay @ 12:13 AM
I didn't know her at all hardly, but I did speak with her very briefly a few weeks back, and I just feel that I should do something. This morning, September 1, 2000, Joanne Hartley (aka Ysanne Isard online) died of cancer in her sleep. She was only 19. She collapsed a month ago, and doctors told her she had two months to live. But she only lived for one. I had no idea she was even ill until Mark Starbuck sent out an ICQ message saying she had passed away. My deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends. She was active in the Jedi Knight community, leading her own clan. In her ICQ user info was this quote that she billed as a "paragraph for life":
Face to face, out in the heat, hanging tough, staying hungry, they stack the odds til we take to the street for we kill with the skill to survive, its the eye of the tiger, its the cream of the fight, rising up to the challenge of our rival and the last known surviver stalks his prey in the night and he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Devin Bron's MP Levels - Kedri @ 5:58 PM
File: Devin Bron's MP Levels
Author: Devin Bron
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a gob of 4 levels I have made. As far as I know, there are no bugs in the levels themselves. Here is a small description of each:

Desert Oasis: This was the first level I ever made. I touched it up a little bit to make it better. I thought I would include it just for fun.

Indoors Training Arena: This is the first level where I really made an effort from the start. Even though I've seen levels 10 times as better than this, I think it is a level that's well put together.

Sith Burial Grounds: After making the Indoors Training Arena, I thought I would make a sabers level, and this is my first attempt at one. I think it ought to be fun to play FF with a darkie :P

Obelisk Gym: For my last level, I wanted to make something that would look decent but would also be simple to play in, like Canyon Oasis. I hope I haven't failed (Obelisk is the term for the JKers in the Dark Brotherhood).
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Abandoned Temple - Kedri @ 5:50 PM
File: Abandoned Temple
Author: Blidd
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: My first level, this smallish map is set in an ancient temple. It consists of an upper, brightly-lit floor above the ground and the lower and dark catacombs which are well below the surface. There are two devious traps (random gushes of wind and lightning), and it is designed for saber fights. The level is meant for 2-4 players, but it does offer room for more.

New MotS Single Player Level: A Jedi's Quest : Part I - Kedri @ 9:54 PM
File: A Jedi's Quest : Part I
Author: Luke Thomas
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight, has been taken on the hard task of re-establishing the Jedi Knight Order. Unfortunately, the task is harder than he originally thought. While traveling the galaxy in search of Jedi artifacts or other clues, Luke begins to find that he is being followed. From system to system, it seems that he constantly has a shadow, and the young Jedi decides to take action. Travelling in his X-Wing with the company of R2-D2, Luke goes to a remote Imperial Intelligence Bunker on the planet of Sarrn. This bunker, once an Imperial listening post used by Grand Admiral Thrawn, has been converted to a small Intelligence center. Imperial Intelligence has always been quite good, so Luke decides that in their database they must have bounty hunters assigned to watch, and possibly kill him. He only needs proof.
New MotS Multiplayer Level: Echo Base - Kedri @ 9:48 PM
File: Echo Base
Author: Tyler Porter
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This multiplayer level was designed as a replica of the Echo Base in the second Star Wars movie. I used books that laid out the base and incorporated these plans into the design of my level. The level is very detailed so you may want to turn down resolution or screen size. I have tested it and have achieved a consistent frame rate of 50. This is my first level and I hope you enjoy it.
Beta Testing, Inc. Opens - blujay @ 9:03 PM

File: Swing-Block
Author: Lictor
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This patch means that you swing your lightsaber when you block bolts or other lightsabers. This works in 1st and 3rd person (Better in 3rd person). This patch is very deadly against Darth Maul in various levels as he blocks your blow with one blade and hits you with the other.
The JK Archives Move - darkjedi86 @ 3:13 PM
That's right, the long-lasting Jedi Knight Archives has moved to its own domain, jkarchives.net. Head on over and check it out.
New Level Rating System - Brian @ 12:50 AM
We have just added a nifty rating system to our levels section. This allows registered users (users registered for the commenting system, not the forums) to give each level a score (0-10). You are allowed to rate each level only once. Since it's new, it's possible that there are a few bugs to work out - if you find any, please let me know.

Level of the Week - Brian @ 7:56 PM
Ah, it's that time again. If you haven't already downloaded Slug's recently released Crust, I strongly suggest you click that image at the top right of the news.

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Canyon Desert - Kedri @ 4:44 AM
File: Canyon Desert
Author: Lightside
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is my latest JK MP level I have created. I call it, 'Canyon Desert'. There is a certain 'Desert Rose' in this level, IF you can find it. If you need help finding the secrets, feel free to e-mail me. Good for up to 8 players, no more. There is a place for saber dueling, heavy gun deathmatch (ya know, those 'oasis' fans ;) ), and a lot of places to explore. The screenshots don't show much. Check out the README!!!_canyondes.txt for more info.

Elyas Updates - darkjedi86 @ 7:24 PM
I've just received word from the wolfbrother himself that Elyas's Domain has updated its AlieNations section with nine new screenshots for the latest singleplayer level, Invasion. Also, the levels section has been organized, and Volume II of the Fuk'ilat Chronicles has been uploaded, as well as The Origins of JAG.

If you're looking at me as if I had five heads, let me explain. Elyas Machera writes these chapters for a story called AlieNations, and is also making a Jedi Knight mod for it. They even have a killer flash intro, so why not head on down to Elyas's Domain and give it a shot?
Mat Spotlight - Brandon @ 10:06 AM
It's time once again to shine the Mat Spotlight upon another mat. This week, the Mat Spotlight rests upon Naythn's Mat file in the Signs category. This mat is a good alternative to the 00wwarny mat found in Jedi Knight. If you like this mat, download it or browse through all the other great mats in the mat section.

Major Revamps @ Millennium - darkjedi86 @ 2:01 PM
It so happens that I was assaulted by Hideki this afternoon, practically binding me hand and foot to post this news. As I so forcefully learned, Millennium has revamped its site, changing from the now obsolete style of frames to tables, as well as changing the background, the overall design for many pages, and many other things. Hideki has also updated the Mod Collection section, so all in all, I'd say a trip to Millennium could hardly be called wasted.
