Vader’s Base
Author: [Jaime Muscatelli] Reviewer: [Home_Sliced]
Aesthetics:
Definitely not this level packs’ strong point. Bland rooms, repetitive texturing, and an absence of lighting result in very little atmosphere in any of the levels. The dynamics are decent; several scripted dialogues and a few ships flying around keep the levels from being totally barren. Dynamics, however, do not make up for the lack of visual quality. Quite simply, this is a bland set of levels aesthetically.
Gameplay:
Unfortunately, this level pack does not have much to offer in the way of gameplay either. You actually do not need to shoot/saber anyone in the first three levels to pass them. The final saber battle is incredibly easy due to Vader’s strange unwillingness to put up much of a fight. I am still confused as to why all of these levels were not combined into one, as they are all tiny in size. On the technical side, item placement was okay, enemy placement really did not matter, and the levels flowed as well as they could for their size. Overall, these levels are rather poor gameplay-wise.
Final Comments:
The only minor redeeming quality is the saber battle: Vader vs. Vader (which I found mildly humorous). Other than that, you really have no need to download this set of levels.
