Sith Lord Discotech
Author: [Zippy1000] Reviewer: [DragonPhinn]
Aesthetics:
As far as aesthetics go, Sith Lord Discotech did not make the grade. The architecture was extremely boxy, save for a single room which had sloping walls (see screenshot 1). The texturing was repetitive, and there were misalignments at every corner (literally). Lighting was basically default, with a few cogs thrown in to make a nauseating light pulse, which was more irritating then visually pleasing. Paper thin walls, improperly flagged surfaces, and lack of architecture all combined to form a lackluster performance.
Gameplay:
Gameplay was (debatably) not as bad as aesthetics. Although there were no real objectives, the author made an attempt by flashing “Mission Objective Completed” every time someone perished. There were force powers (just dark), though seeing as you were Darth Maul (or a clone thereof) this was fitting. The level flowed from room to room jam packed with enemies of sorts. First imperials (which you must destroy with nothing but a bryar and a saber) then seemingly innumerable amounts of Dark Jedi of almost every kind. Probably the most interesting area was the catwalks where you sabered with Maw, who would attempt to cast you off the thin precipice. I did not run into many items, save for those dropped by your enemies. Though the ones I found were nicely placed. There were cogs, in the form of force fields, which also added to Gameplay. Playability wise, this level is not much for repeat use.
Final Comments:
If you enjoy fending off masses of enemies with your saber (double sided, with the aid of a modification enclosed with the level) and are not much for architecture or plot, then this level is worth the download. Otherwise, you might want to look elsewhere.
