Warzone Chapter 2: The Intruder
Author: [Tom 'Magi' Smallwood] Reviewer: [Home_Sliced]
Aesthetics:
As the second installment of the Warzone series, “The Intruder” has somewhat of a reputation to live up to. Does it deliver? You bet it does. The visuals are well above average incorporating a diverse selection of architecture, texturing, and lighting. There are tons of sloped surfaces, beams, fancy hallways, and even a few curves that keep the environment alive throughout the level. The texturing is almost as good as the architecture, but can be repetitive in areas. Similarly, the lighting is also well done throughout the level. The visuals pale in comparison with the dynamics, however. There are some great original puzzles and cogs that keep the level interesting both aesthetically and in terms of gameplay.
Gameplay:
This is an incredibly fun level to play. Virtually everything about the gameplay fits together perfectly. The enemies are all strategically placed forcing you to keep on your toes. Items are dispersed smoothly throughout the level to keep you from loading up too much. However, with the exception of the very last part, I was never under duress for shields, health, or ammo. This is an excellently laid out level where everything connects together logically. The amount of originality in the puzzles is amazing; this level is full of surprises.
Final Comments:
I highly recommend you download “The Intruder” and its partner in crime “Rebel Storm.” The Warzone series is perhaps the best set of levels out there.
