Legends of the Force: Journey to the Zelaskata Mountains
Author: [Bobo Fett] Reviewer: [SL_Ric_Olie]
Aesthetics:
This level was quite decent and very playable. Architecture was above average, with few boxy sectors, but some wide open areas. Texturing was relatively well done, but seemed a bit repetitive in some areas. Lighting could have been a lot better than it was. There was variation, but not enough to please the eye greatly. Dynamics were better, with new 3dos; floors flagged as ice, which is hardly ever seen; and new wavs, including flushing toilets.
Gameplay:
Gameplay was quite good in this level. The story seemed to be that Kyle was sent to the Zelaskata Mountains, but something had gone wrong and you (Luke) had to rescue him. The items were placed well, I found ammo and power-ups about where I needed them. Enemy placement was a bit heavy in some areas, but generally decent throughout. The level had several puzzles had to be solved, and those were well done, even though some areas were hard to find. The next area was usually offset with a different texture, which signified a wall that could be destroyed.
Final Comments:
A good level overall. The final saber battle against the emperor could have been done more creatively, especially putting a better skin for his face. But I recognized what seems to be the author’s trademark, a lift tube at the bottom portion of the battle area, which also appeared in the other installment in the Legend of the Force series. I recommend this level for something to do in those times when you can’t play multiplayer.
